Petrified forests

The name "Petrified Forest National Park" in Arizona can be misleading. Although it is called a "forest", it is not the trees that stand upright as we usually think, but the rocks. There are remnants of altered trees scattered across the land and a long geological history.

These petrified trees date back to about 225 million years ago, when the Earth was in the "Triassic Period". At that time the area was densely forested, but over time these trees were buried under mineral deposits and slowly turned into stone over millions of years. Minerals such as quartz and silica entered the cells of the trees, turning the trees into a solid stone, but with the appearance and texture of wood.

This national park is not only a unique geological site but also provides an opportunity for tourists and researchers to understand the history of Earth's evolution and ancient life. It gives a glimpse of the era when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and gives us a sense of the power of nature, how organic matter has been preserved forever in rock formations, including a prehistoric age. پتھرائے ہوئے جنگلات

ایریزونا میں واقع  قومی پارک برائے پتھرائے ہوئے جنگلات" کا نام ایک غلط فہمی پیدا کر سکتا ہے۔ اگرچہ اسے "جنگل" کہا جاتا ہے، مگر یہاں وہ درخت نہیں ہیں جو سیدھے کھڑے ہوں جیسے ہم عام طور پر سوچتے ہیں، بلکہ یہ پتھر میں بدلے ہوئے درختوں کی باقیات ہیں جو زمین پر بکھرے ہوئے ہیں اور ایک طویل زمینی حقائق تاریخ کو بیان کرتے ہیں۔

یہ پتھرائے ہوئے درخت تقریباً 22 کروڑ 50 لاکھ سال پہلے کے ہیں، یعنی اُس وقت کے جب زمین پر "ٹرائیاسک دور" تھا۔ اُس وقت یہ علاقہ گھنے جنگلات سے بھرا ہوا تھا، مگر وقت کے ساتھ یہ درخت معدنی رسوبات کے نیچے دب گئے اور لاکھوں سالوں میں آہستہ آہستہ پتھر میں تبدیل ہوگئے۔ معدنیات جیسے کہ کوارٹز اور سلیکا درختوں کے خلیوں میں داخل ہو گئیں، جس سے یہ درخت پتھر کی ٹھوس شکل میں بدل گئے، مگر ان میں لکڑی کی شکل و صورت اور نقوش موجود ہیں۔

یہ قومی پارک نہ صرف ایک منفرد ارضیاتی مقام ہے بلکہ یہ سیاحوں اور محققین کو زمین کے ارتقا اور قدیم زندگی کی تاریخ کو سمجھنے کا موقع فراہم کرتا ہے۔ یہ اس دور کی جھلک پیش کرتا ہے جب ڈائنوسار زمین پر گھومتے تھے، اور ہمیں فطرت کی طاقت کا احساس دلاتا ہے کہ کس طرح حیاتی اجزاء کو پتھریلے نمونوں میں تبدیل کر کے ہمیشہ کے لئے محفوظ کر دیا گیا ہے، جن میں ایک قدیم دور کی کہانیاں پنہاں ہیں۔
