Ancient city built of stone

The term "Great Zimbabwe" refers to the remnants of an ancient city built of stone, situated close to the present-day location of Masvingo, Zimbabwe. Through extensive archaeological research, it has been deduced that both the central ruins and the adjoining valley once accommodated a thriving Shona community, numbering between 10,000 to 20,000 individuals. This city stood as the epicenter of a flourishing trading empire, spanning from the 11th century to the 15th century. Anchored in its prosperity, this empire's economy revolved around cattle rearing, agricultural cultivation, and the lucrative export of gold to the shores of the Indian Ocean.
