Strange history

Jarlshof is an amazing archaeological site located in Sumburgh, Mainland, Shetland, Scotland. The site is known for its uniqueness as the remains here cover different periods of human history, spanning from about 2500 BC to the 17th century AD. The site was discovered after severe storms in the late 19th century when part of the beach was eroded away, revealing ancient buildings. Archaeological excavations began in 1925 and the first Bronze Age remains were discovered.

This place has many structures of different periods. Bronze Age inhabitants left behind small oval houses with thick stone walls and a variety of artifacts have been discovered. Iron Age ruins include a baruch (defensive fortress-like building) and a defensive wall surrounding the site. Round houses of this period are also present here.

Pictish wheelhouses are a complex structure that was built during this period. The longhouse of the Wai King is also an important structure that marks their presence in the area. Finally, the medieval farmhouse gives us a rare glimpse into the life of the people of that era.

This place offers a unique opportunity to examine the layers of history and understand the lives of the people who lived here for centuries.


عجیب و غریب تاریخ

جارلشوف ایک حیرت انگیز آثار قدیمہ کا مقام ہے جو سُمبُرگ، مینلینڈ، شٹلینڈ، اسکاٹ لینڈ میں واقع ہے۔ یہ مقام اپنی انفرادیت کی وجہ سے جانا جاتا ہے کیونکہ یہاں موجود باقیات انسانی تاریخ کے مختلف ادوار کا احاطہ کرتی ہیں، جو تقریباً 2500 قبل مسیح سے لے کر 17ویں صدی عیسوی تک پھیلی ہوئی ہیں۔ اس مقام کا انکشاف 19ویں صدی کے اواخر میں شدید طوفانوں کے بعد ہوا جب ساحل کا ایک حصہ کٹنے سے قدیم عمارتیں ظاہر ہوئیں۔ آثار قدیمہ کی کھدائی 1925 میں شروع ہوئی اور سب سے پہلے کانسی کے دور کی باقیات دریافت ہوئیں۔

یہ مقام مختلف ادوار کے متعدد ڈھانچوں کا حامل ہے۔ کانسی کے دور کے باسیوں نے چھوٹے انڈاکار نما گھر چھوڑے تھے جن کی موٹی پتھریلی دیواریں اور مختلف قسم کی اشیاء دریافت ہوئیں۔ لوہے کے دور کے کھنڈرات میں ایک بروخ (دفاعی قلعہ نما عمارت) اور سائٹ کے اردگرد ایک دفاعی دیوار شامل ہیں۔ اس دور کے گول گھر بھی یہاں موجود ہیں۔

پِکٹش دور کے پہیے نما گھر ایک پیچیدہ ڈھانچہ ہیں جو اس دور میں تعمیر کیے گئے تھے۔ وائی کنگ کا لمبا گھر بھی ایک اہم ڈھانچہ ہے جو علاقے میں ان کی موجودگی کی نشانی ہے۔ آخری طور پر، قرون وسطیٰ کا فارم ہاؤس ہمیں اُس دور کے لوگوں کی زندگی کا ایک نادر جھلک فراہم کرتا ہے۔

یہ مقام تاریخ کی تہوں کو جانچنے اور اُن لوگوں کی زندگیوں کو سمجھنے کا ایک منفرد موقع فراہم کرتا ہے جو صدیوں تک یہاں آباد رہے
