24) Diamide Islands
Diamide Islands
These two islands stand in the frozen waters of the world's two largest oceans (the Pacific and the Arctic) between America and Russia. They are called the "Diamide Islands". Of these, the larger island on the left is under Russian control, and the smaller island on the right is part of the United States.
The distance between the two islands is only 3.5 km, but if the time difference between the two is seen, the Russian island is about 21 hours ahead of the American island. That is, if it is three o'clock in the afternoon on Monday in the island of America, it will be 12 o'clock in the afternoon of Tuesday in the island of Russia. That is, by traveling only 3.5 km, you can go to the next date and come back to the previous date.
What is the cycle behind it, for us
meridians
One has to understand the lines that are drawn imaginary from north to south to understand the map of the earth.
Our earth is round, and there are 360⁰ degrees in a circle, so we draw 360 lines from north to south on a map of the earth. One of these lines passes through "Greenwich", England.
For every 15 lines passed eastward from this 0⁰ time increases by one hour. That is, every 15 degrees to the east
GMT+1۔
While towards the west, 1 hour decreases for every 15 lines i.e. after every 15 degrees towards the west.
GMT- 1۔
Thus, when the 180⁰ line comes, there is such a difference between east and west time that the dates on both sides change, and this 180⁰ line is called the International Date Line, which passes through the Pacific Ocean. is
However, the countries of the world do not follow this international date line completely, because this line divides many countries into two parts, but the governments keep the same time and date for their entire country.
As about 18 lines pass through Pakistan (60⁰ to 77⁰) but we are seventy five.
(75th) keep their time according to the line which is
GMT
It is five hours ahead
