16) The confluence of the Negro River and the Amazon River
The confluence of the Negro River and the Amazon River
The Brazilian city of Manaus, the largest city in the Amazon basin, has one of the most beautiful natural phenomena: water meeting water. It is where the Negro River and the Amazon River meet. These two rivers flow miles apart but their water does not meet, this is a fascinating and strange natural phenomenon.
The Negro River's water is dark in color because it contains large amounts of acid due to decaying vegetation, while the Amazon River's water is muddy due to silt particles from the Andes Mountains.
The water of the two rivers also differs in temperature and flow velocity. The water of the Negro River is warmer than the water of the Amazon River, while the flow of the Amazon River is faster than that of the Negro River. Due to all these factors, the water of the two rivers does not meet and this natural phenomenon persists.
This point where the water meets the water is very popular with tourists who come on boats to see the scene up close. This meeting point is spread over four kilometers and is six hours away from Manaus city center. Subhan Allah, this is a natural phenomenon worthy of contemplation
