In Osaka, Japan, the Gate Tower Building is a unique structure where a highway passes directly through its 5th, 6th, and 7th floors. This unusual design was a result of a compromise between the building owners and the city, allowing the Hanshin Expressway to pass through the building without disturbing its structure. The highway does not physically touch the building, as it is supported by pillars, and the building's floors above and below remain fully functional
